Meet Christian Lanear

Christian Lanear was a bright light — charismatic, kind, and full of life. Known for his infectious smile, quick wit, and genuine compassion for others, he had a gift for bringing people together. A true multi-talent, Christian was a co-host of Eagle Media (his high school’s news program), where he loved connecting with his peers and making them laugh; a member of the show choir, where he found joy in singing and dancing alongside his friends; a dedicated hurdler on the track team, always pushing himself to improve; and the team manager for speech and debate, where he took pride in supporting and encouraging others to succeed.

In May 2024, Christian’s life was tragically cut short in a car accident, but his spirit continues to inspire all who knew him. Whether on stage, on the field, or in the classroom, he led with heart and purpose. The Lanear Legacy Scholarship honors his memory by empowering students to pursue their dreams with the same determination, generosity, and joy that defined his life.

Christians Impact on the Community

"Christian was my son, Cole’s best friend, and he was just that. THE best! He was that rare kind of friend I considered such a blessing for my son to have in his life. We loved having him at our house and feeling as if he were one of our own boys. He brought so much joy and had a way of filling up the room with such brightness, you couldn’t help but feel happier just being around him."

~ Andrea Elliott

"Christian was the kind of person who walked into a room like a burst of sunshine—warm, radiant, and impossible to ignore. He made everyone smile without trying, cared deeply, and turned every ordinary moment into something worth remembering."

~Shannon Stone, Grain Valley Teacher
